"Most likely the best restaurant in town. Relaxing atmosphere. Steak cooked exactly right. Onion rings were very average & a tad soggy. Scallops & shrimp excellent. Surf and turf is your best deal all around. Steaks are pricey but that's just the price they command in town. Key Lime Pie was superb. Wait staff and hostess all very friendly and attentive. Recommended but steaks are very expensive."

"We stopped here on the way through to Florida and really enjoyed our experience. There was a wait and the owner/manager lit the outside fire pit for us so we didn't have to stand in the crowded bar. All of the servers were very nice and efficient. The rib eye steak dinner was delicious. Just a very nice, well run local establishment!"

"Stopped on the way home from Maryland and wanted a home-cooked meal. I don't do fast food. I found this restaurant on Google. All the staff were very warm and pleasant. My salmon was tasty, and I loved the broccoli medley--seasoned well and not mushy or salty. I had the carrot cake and it too was delicious. We travel through this area often and will definitely stop in again."

"I found myself in Roanoke Rapids a couple of times this year for some family matters and hadn't been back since childhood. On my first visit over Easter weekend, I decided to skip the chains and try a local spot -- Haggerty's Steakhouse. What a great decision! Arriving just before the dinner rush, I took a seat at the bar. The bartender was friendly and attentive, and after hearing why I was in town, she went above and beyond -- sharing local history, introducing me to other staff members who even knew some of my family background, and making me feel completely at home. That night's ribeye, loaded baked potato, and salad were outstanding (even for a Texas boy!), and while I'm not traditionally a dessert person, the rich, layered chocolate pie was very good! A few months later, I returned and was greeted like an old friend -- they actually remembered me! The couple next to me, who were also passing through, couldn't stop raving about their burgers, so I tried the peanut butter and bacon cheeseburger -- which was surprisingly fantastic. As someone who travels all over the U.S. and is usually just another face in large cities overrun with chain restaurants, both visits to this small-town gem made my trips so much more enjoyable. Great food, genuine service, and people who treat you like family -- it compelled me to write a review and thank them! Whether you're local or just passing through, make time to stop at Haggerty's -- you'll leave with a full stomach and a smile."
